A concept I was working on a while back but never got to finalize it till now. Even then there are a few smaller details that still need to be tweaked.
Ive seen other versions with this premise but most of them seem to be gundam recolors.
I opted to try something a little different but honestly I'm not sure if it works or not
Wow. Seems everyone is catching the My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic bug. And I can't blame them; it's a great show, regardless of the subject species.
Good work by the way. The design is detailed and well drawn. Perhaps a little too "organic" on the midsection (it looks a little like intestine to me), but that's just me. I like how the design is reminiscent of the character it personifies yet still appears as a workable mecha. One must wonder is that horn is magically functional or if it's only decorative.
In a way, this idea kind of personifies what Lauren Faust was going for: My Little Pony characters having Transformers-style adventures.
This looks like a Gundam Relena would pilot (Her bashers to the contrary, mauve, lavender, purple and white seem to be her favorite colors in Gundam Wing). I it!
This mecha needs a giant robe/cloak that acts as a shield. The existing shield just isn't Twi's style. I see her, and Rarity even more so, as using the DRAGOON system with all the combat drones.
More importantly, if this mecha has a magician for a pilot, use magictech to add some awkward machinery to the outside and have that machinery and bulk be used to catalyze her magical power. Teleporting just mechanical killing machines for the win...
Im still making teaks and adjustments to the design so things are still subject to change.
In regards to the shield I was thinking it would work in the same way as when twilight casts her magical barriers so the shield itself would be able to generate a all encompassing defensive shield similar to the I beam field from the Nu gundam's fin funnels. Speaking of funnels the mech itself is equipped with them (the two pylons on the back similar to the sazabi) guess I should show that detail in the finalized version.
You are most welcome. I still think That Twilight's mech looks a bit stocky and vanilla. It's coming off as high-mobility from all the thrusters, and while the shield I suppose makes sense, when I think of a unicorn-piloted or themed mecha, I think of the DRAGOON system with it's remote attack and defense drones, or something like the Gundam Seraphim from 00. attack from multiple vectors and field dominance. This is far from the worst MLP-themed mecha I've ever seen to be honest, but it just... seems to leave me thinking "why in the name of buck is Twilight's mecha so under-equipped and under-customized?!"
